About The Artist
I am a queer, California-raised artist. I received my BA from University of California, Santa Cruz, in Art. There I worked predominantly in sculpture, metal fabrication. I went on to get my MS in Architecture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with emphasis on Sustainable Design. I worked for an architecture firm for a while before deciding that design without much heart in is just is not for me.
Currently, I started teaching a sustainable architecture course at a community college and I create illustrations. It's my dream to be partly sustained from selling my art. Since 2017, I have created hundreds of illustrations that were posted on Instagram almost daily for some time.
Themes of queerness, feminism, sexuality, heartache, and connection run strong through my artwork. I have been attracted to simplified line illustrations because I want to provoke the viewer to project themselves, their feelings, their experiences, into each piece. My hope is to relate to others, drawing to the surface things that are not in "polite conversation" and encourage others to explore their own feelings about that kind of exposure and vulnerability.
